Since my days in the children's fashion wear I have been addicted to textiles. In fact, I think it precedes those days, as I remember being the only girl in my school who took embroidery as an 'O' Level exam!
Luckily the legacy from my children's wear business is a huge trunk full of Liberty lawns, Liberty silks, Collier Campbell cottons and numerous other very favourite lengths of fabric
While I was busy following other business pursuits, the trunk remained all alone in the attic but now that I have the time I always dreamt of, all is unpacked and every day I gloat over the sumptuious fabrics, laces, old buttons, yarns, silks etc. etc. Aladdin in his cave never was as happy as I am now that my trunk has been unpacked.
Combining different fabrics, bits of old lace, Parisien buttons, yarns of all textures - what a pleasure it is. Lovely pieces of vintage cloth, pieces rescued from beautiful garments, new bits, trim from garments found in charity shops, on and on I could go. Just put me anywhere near textiles and I am happy.
