It was wet

Chair found at an auction in Wells and sold to a lovely local family
Well, we survived a cold and wet Antiques Fair at Shepton Mallet.

As ever, we met some interesting people many of whom found just the thing they were looking for, or often, something they could not resist buying!

It is always a joy when people fall in love with something that I have found, restored or created.

Nearly all the furniture shown in my last blog was sold plus quite a lot more that I didn't feature.

.

It was a delight to sell this lovely Victorian dinner set to a lady who bought it over 2 days.

First she bought two sizes of plates and two small tureens and then on the second day she bought the large plates and the large tureen.

I hope its going to be enjoyed as much in its new home as I have enjoyed having it in my collection.

I still have a similar set in brown for sale and am on the search for a couple more sets.  Unfortunately it is getting more and more difficult to find complete sets in good condition... the search starts today.
I still have some 1970's Limoges dinnner plates, soup plates and chargers left.  Although not antique and hardly vintage, these are so elegant that many people have fallen in love with them and bought them for their special dinner parties.  I am so pleased that I was able to bring several crates of them back from France and that I can sell them at such a good price (from £3 for the small size plates - compares well to Ikea, ebay and everywhere else that I can find them for sale)

It was good to spend time with people who have a passion for textiles to match mine.  I have collected fabrics since my time in the children's wear business.  We supplied Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Selfridges, Bergdorf Goodman and many specialist shops in the UK, America and the Middle East with beautiful dresses made from Liberty Tana Lawn and luckily I kept the ends of rolls.  Now I have a lovely collection of fabric from the 1970's and can manage to part with some to other fabric lovers.  I always enjoy talking to people who are browsing the fabric and finding out what they make with it,  We are a definite breed apart!

So, all in all, a show where the people I met were fun and interesting, where I sold some of my favourite pieces to lovely people but where we got very cold and wet and struggled at times to keep our spirits up.   Anyway, onwards and upwards and I have already started adding to my vintage collection ready for the Vintage Bazaar in Hartley Witney on the 27th April.

I shall not be at the Fleamarket at Shepton on the 31st March as I am heading up to the Lake District for a holiday to stay in a cottage opposite the phone box used in the Withnail and I film (any addicts out there?)
